From Goat Yoga to Gold Awards: Sunterra’s Lifestyle Director Shines on the National Stage

Posted on Friday, January 30, 2026

Hosting events such as Putt-Putt Palooza, Ghostly Giddyup Line Dance Class, and Goat Yoga, we think Sunterra Lifestyle Director Latham Liggett is pretty special.

And we’re not the only ones — following his win as Lifestyle Director of the Year in the Greater Houston Builders Association’s Houston’s Best PRISM Awards last October, Latham is a Silver Award winner in The Nationals presented by the National Association of Home Builders. That win puts him in the running for a Gold Award and the title of the nation’s best lifestyle director!

Latham joined Sunterra in May 2024 during a time of tremendous growth that continues today. While we’ve celebrated being the top-selling community in Texas now for three years, this rapid growth has posed a challenge for Latham as he works to plan meaningful events for all residents. With a big dose of creativity, adaptability, and strategic communication, he has successfully met the challenge.

His programming is designed to cater to all demographics and interests. Last year saw meaningful experiences through initiatives such as Donuts & Dads, which strengthened father-child bonds; wine nights, which created a space for our adults to connect; golf simulator events that encouraged men to find their place in the community; foam pits for teens; and whimsical character interactions that brought our youngest residents’ imaginations to life.

Latham experienced record-breaking attendance at his events, and for some lifestyle directors, that would be enough. But for Latham, the true success of a lifestyle director goes beyond attendance.

“In the lifestyle industry, it is easy to focus on planning, logistics, and the next big idea, but at the heart of my work is something far more profound,” Latham says. “The true impact of my role is found in the quiet, meaningful moments that unfold at our events. It’s in the child who conquered their fear of heights as their dad cheers them on down an inflatable slide. It’s in the mother who sees her daughter’s confidence soar when her face is painted like a princess. It’s in the residents who discover joy in fitness through our classes, the parents who watch their children form new friendships, and the moms who find strength and support in one another.”

Relationships forged, the smiles shared, and the sense of community cultivated — that’s how Latham measures his success as Sunterra Lifestyle Director.

We’ll find out Feb. 17 if Latham is The Nationals Gold Award winner, but whether he takes home the trophy or not, he’s a winner to us, one with a heart of gold and an unwavering commitment to building community for our residents.
