Teen Sunterra residents attend Katy High School. Known for excellent academics and fantastic extracurricular activities, the school also boasts a wide range of clubs and organizations. Getting involved in one or more helps students develop leadership skills, make new friends and enjoy their high school experience. Here are some of the many options students can choose from.
Astro Space Club
Explore the final frontier with other space lovers. The club has members researching various topics related to science and space exploration then creating projects to present to the group.
One of the more unique clubs on campus, students care for the school’s apiary located adjacent to the Tiger Prairie. The club promotes future careers in ecology, agronomy land management and more.
Bowling Club
A competitive bowling club for young men and women who compete at the varsity level against other schools in the district and region.
Chess Club
The club welcomes students at all levels of play. Beginners receive help from more experienced members.
Debate Team
Learn the art of argumentation in a fun, competitive environment. Students practice twice a week and compete in up to 20 events per year. During the first year, students must be enrolled in the debate class. The class is optional the following year.
Students enrolled in an agricultural science class can join Future Farmers of America (FFA). Members participate in various events and competitions related to agriculture such as livestock shows, as well as attending camps and conventions.
Fish Camp Peer Mentors
Supervised upper upperclassmen host incoming freshmen for an informative and fun-filled day of becoming acquainted with the West and Main Campus buildings through motivational sessions and learning KHS traditions.
French Club
Students practice the language and learn more about French culture.
German Club
Students practice German, dine at German/Austrian restaurants, travel to museums and engage in fun activities.
Good Sportsmanship League (GSL)
Open to 11th and 12th grade students, the organization promotes good sportsmanship at the varsity level. Club members prepare goodie baskets, walk across the field to meet students from the opposing team and wish them good luck.
History Club
Students delve into the past and enjoy field trips, mock trials, reenactments and writing (with the possibility of being published), as well as the study of music and art throughout time.
Students hone journalism skills while working on the school news magazine and yearbook. Students must have completed one year of journalism or photojournalism class.
Spanish Club
Students learn Spanish and participate in cultural activities.
Spanish Honor Society
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica recognizes high achievement in Spanish and promotes continuity of interest in Hispanic studies.
Special Buddies
The mission of Special Buddies is to include students with special needs in fun campus activities and to build a positive campus culture.
Technology Student Association
Students interested in STEM apply, learn and integrate concepts through extracurricular activities, competitions and related programs.
Tiger Echo Yearbook
Staff members work together throughout the year producing the school yearbook and newsmagazine. Participation requires one year of journalism or photojournalism.
Tiger Media Team
Students learn the basics of production, editing, graphics and audio editing. They produce a campus new show and social media content. Members must have successfully completed AV Production, Journalism I or other technology and public speaking classes.
National Art Honor Society
Recognizes excellence in artistic endeavors. The organization specializes in making artistic props, murals, banners and more for different community events.
National Honor Society
Honors students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher can join this organization which recognizes excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character.
Photography Club
Students gain experience and harness their creativity through the art of photography.
Quiz Bowl
Quiz Bowl is a team trivia competition spanning everything from history and literature to music, movies and science.
